Working Schedule:	This is a part-time, as-needed position. The Fabrication/Welding Program is open Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There may be a few times within the academic year that evenings and weekends will be required, based on events. Schedule may vary with hours increasing during peak periods up to 40 hours per week, up to 1039 hours in a 12-month period.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:	Two (2) years of post-secondary education or formal training with coursework in Fabrication and Welding.
Required Experience:	Two (2) years of industrial experience in fabrication and welding OR Two (2) years of formal training.
Licensure or Certification Requirements

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education	Knowledge of AWS Standards. Welding certification in at least one (1) welding process.
Preferred Experience	Experience in GTAW, OF cutting, plasma cutting, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW various electrodes, forklift, overhead crane, blueprint reading, air-carbon arc cutting, and machine tool operation (forming, cutting functions). Experience welding in all positions.

Position Purpose:	Contributes to student academic success and completion by assisting students in their study of Fabrication/Welding Technology. Assists students to become successful and independent learners by using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, OF & plasma cutting, blueprint reading, forklift operation, overhead crane, air-carbon arc cutting, various machine tool operations related to forming, cutting and drilling, and other lab/shop equipment to improve their critical thinking, problem-solving, study strategies and ability to make connections between Fabrication/Welding concepts and applications.
Essential Functions:	Assists students with all Fabrication/Welding classes from basic through advanced Fabrication/Welding by answering specific questions about Fabrication/Welding problems, assigned activities, and Fabrication/Welding aids. Work requires knowledge of related equipment, tools, curriculum, and instructional methods. Supports students in Fabrication/Welding classes by explaining and modeling effective study strategies. Provides answers in multiple ways to meet learner needs. Shows enthusiasm for using Fabrication/Welding Technology. Listen to and understand student questions, demonstrate the process, observe practice, show alternative methods, and tutor effectively. Maintains a positive, student-centered learning environment by learning students' names and introducing students interested in studying together. Encourages a growth mindset towards learning Fabrication/Welding Technology. Explain and model effective study habits such as note-taking, use of course materials, time management and test preparation. Provides students in Fabrication/Welding courses with additional resources and explanations to foster learner confidence and persistence and reduce anxiety. Obtain, prepare and maintain materials, equipment and supplies for student labs and classes, clean up and organize lab supplies. Promotes student use of the online curriculum (Moodle). Attends scheduled staff meetings, training, and advisory committee meetings. Work Safely and within guidelines established by OSHA, the college and the division. Supervise Fabrication/Welding students in the use of equipment and materials; obtain, prepare and maintain supplies, materials, and equipment. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students. Other duties as assigned. Supervision Statement:	Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Division Dean. Work may be led or coordinated by a lead worker. Work is performed independently using specialized experience and training. Work is reviewed for the quality of assistance provided. This position may have the responsibility to assign tasks, provide priorities and train student assistants and hourly employees.
Physical Demands/Working Environment:	Work safely and adhere to college workplace safety rules and regulations; lift or transport up to fifty (50) lbs with or without support. Ability to work on a concrete floor for five (5) or more hours/day.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:	Knowledge, Skills in: Current skills in effective methods and knowledge related to a broad range of metal Fabrication and Welding technologies including machine operation (manual and CNC programming), maintenance, and manual welding skills. Ability to: Analyze student problem areas with course content, provide positive reinforcement and encourage students. Maintain a patient, caring, and respectful attitude with students. Model and demonstrate effective study skills. Work with persons with a wide range of disabilities. Work effectively under pressure. Work independently; keep the learning environment neat and orderly. Work and lift safely. Provide support to employees working to meet accreditation standards through evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.
