Food Safety Assistant
We're looking for a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Food Safety Assistant to help maintain food safety and quality standards at our chocolate manufacturing facility.
In this hands-on role, you'll work closely with our Food Safety Manager to support daily food safety activities, maintain accurate documentation, and help ensure our facility follows established food safety procedures.
The ideal candidate takes initiative, works independently, pays close attention to detail, and is comfortable balancing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Food Safety Manager with daily food safety and quality assurance activities.
- Prepare, review, and verify product labels for accuracy and compliance with established requirements.
- Conduct and document product testing and routine food safety checks.
- Maintain accurate food safety records, reports, and documentation.
- Monitor sanitation practices and help ensure cleaning procedures are followed.
- Assist with equipment-related food safety checks and sanitation activities.
- Support allergen control procedures and help prevent cross-contamination.
- Help maintain compliance with food safety programs, including SQF (Safe Quality Food) requirements.
- Assist with documentation, preparation, and follow-up activities for annual SQF audits.
- Communicate food safety concerns and work with production staff to address issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food safety, quality assurance, or food manufacturing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage changing priorities.
- Understanding of food safety procedures, sanitation standards, and allergen controls.
- HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification or knowledge of SQF standards is a strong plus.
- Willingness to learn and complete additional training as needed.
