Core Responsibilities
- IEP Management: Develop, implement, and continually assess IEPs, while serving as a case manager for assigned students.
- Inclusive Instruction: Ensure access to the general education curriculum through collaborative team-teaching models and evidence-based interventions.
- Lesson Planning: Modify curricula and adapt instructional materials to accommodate diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Collaboration: Partner with general education teachers, site administrators, parents, and support staff to provide integrated services.
- Data Tracking: Utilize ongoing formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and track student progress toward their educational goals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Credentials: Requires a valid California Special Education Teaching Credential (e.g., Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe, or Education Specialist). SLZUSD may advise on obtaining emergency credentials if you hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of Federal and State Special Education laws, compliance, and best practices.
- Cultural Competency: Alignment with the district's mission, which prioritizes restorative justice, anti-racism, and overall community well-being.
