PURPOSE: Manage and assist in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment, and machinery. Supervise and coordinate the work of other employees who repair and maintain the building/facility, equipment, and machinery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and facilitate mechanical training for employees within Maintenance and Processing departments.
- Monitor the plant operation to ensure that machinery is in optimal working condition. Perform specialized maintenance, as needed.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Maintenance department.
- Enforce sound safety and housekeeping practices.
- Arrange for and manage appropriate third-party contractor support, as needed. Secure estimates and cost quotes.
- Coordinate the work order process by organizing requests and distributing assignments based on priorities. Follows up on open work orders to ensure timely completion.
- Coordinate all calibration as per our FSSC 22000/BRCGS or maintenance schedule on all equipment.
- Be able to perform most of the calibration, i.e. be familiar with instrumentation calibration and working with 4-20 mA.
- Perform priority maintenance work.
- Maintaining maintenance supplies inventory and initiating purchase orders as needed.
- Cover processing operator during lunch break.
Required
- A minimum of five years in the maintenance field of a food manufacturing facility.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, and a working knowledge of electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of local building codes, OSHA regulations, and food safety regulations.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision and management. A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, Safety and ISO programs, along with basic understanding of pumps, conveyors, valves, PLC’s and variable frequency drives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Accuracy and attention to detail; logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, calculator, computer, printer, and copier

- Ability to develop and maintain productive and positive relationships with federal/state/local agencies, vendors, customers and employees.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external customers.
- Strong organizational skills for the performance of a variety of complex administrative duties. Ability to prioritize tasks.
