    Lakeville Area Schools has a Data Visualization & Application Support Analyst
    This position is a 261 day per year position.
    Salary: $95,000 - $100,000 depending on experience


    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The central focus of this role is data visualization: transforming raw school, student, and compliance data into interactive dashboards and actionable visual insights that empower district leadership, principals, and educators to make data-driven decisions. The Data and Application Support Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and integration of the district's educational and administrative software ecosystems. This position bridges the gap between technical systems and business objectives.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The essential functions of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

    Data Analytics & Visualization

    • Dashboard Development: Design, build, and maintain interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports (using Tableau and other tools) for the board, district leadership, principals, administration, teachers and families.
    • Actionable Insights: Transform complex student performance, attendance, demographic, and behavioral datasets into clear visual narratives to support data-driven decision making.
    • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish and track district-wide metrics to monitor equity, student growth, and intervention effectiveness.
    • Ad-Hoc Reporting: Respond to custom data requests from school board members and administrators, translating their questions into accurate data visualizations.

    Data Management

    • Monitor to ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency and timeliness of data.
    • Manage and monitor the data synchronization between SIS and 3rd party data sources into the data warehouse.
    • Defining rules, roles, and standards for data visualization ownership, access control, and usage across the organization.

    System Administration & Application Support

    • Support and troubleshoot system integrations between the Student Information System (SIS) and other systems.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software errors and integration issues

    Training & End-User Empowerment

    • Create clear documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures for district applications and dashboards.
    • Conduct training sessions (both in-person and virtual) to help staff interpret data dashboards and use software effectively.
    • Translate complex technical processes into user-friendly instructions for non-technical staff.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    (Specific training or job experience required before appointment):

    • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Education Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
    • Minimum of 2�3 years of experience in data visualization, application support, or database management.
    • Prior experience working in a K-12 school district or educational service agency is highly preferred.
    • Data Visualization Tools: Mastery of Tableau, or industry standard equivalent.
    • Database proficiency: Strong knowledge of SQL for querying, data hygiene, and dataset preparation.
    • K-12 Systems: Hands-on experience with major SIS platforms
    • Data Tools: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Power Query, Pivot Tables).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and an eagle eye for data anomalies.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a heavy emphasis on patience and customer service.
    • Ability to present complex data findings to a non-technical audience clearly and concisely.
    • Deep understanding of student privacy laws, specifically FERPA and COPPA.
