Restorative Practices Paraprofessional, Y5- 5th Grade
Hours: Up to 36.5 hours per week
Location: Stewart Elementary, Stevensville, MI 49127
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or equivalent preferred
- Subbing credentials of 60 college credit hours preferred
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Advanced training in a field related to child care and/or a minimum of two years of experience as an aide or equivalent experience
- Competent in the following areas: communication skills, organization, and in establishing excellent interpersonal relationships with staff and students
Duties:
- Working in multiple classrooms (Young 5’s - 5th Grade) to assist students and teachers with academic and behavioral needs
- Assist in planning and implementation of instructional support and training activities with students under the direction of the teacher
- Be responsible for the supervision and direction of students including bus arrival and dismissal, lunch and recess time
- Help maintain instructional area, supplies, equipment and facilities in a clean/safe condition. Includes cleaning/disinfecting the classroom environment
- Assist teachers and support staff in preparing materials, housekeeping, recordkeeping and data collection relative to student progress
- Provide instruction and training on an individual student basis, in a small group or one-to-one tutorial instruction
- Willing to assist with medical procedures. Understand and be aware of medical needs of students
- Follow established policies/procedures (e.g. medical concerns, safety, student rights, emergency/disaster plan, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality and regular & predictable attendance
- Prefer de-escalation training (TCI) or equivalent
- All other duties as assigned
