High School English Teacher
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Highly Qualified Endorsement in English (BA) or Language Arts (BX)
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success
- Student-centered approach focused on meeting the diverse needs of all learners
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to integrate technology and innovative instructional strategies into the curriculum
- Understanding of diverse learning styles and the ability to provide differentiated instruction
- Ability to design engaging learning experiences that challenge students and incorporate various levels of depth of knowledge
- Commitment to collaboration as an active member of Professional Learning Communities
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administration to support student growth
- Commitment to accountability for student achievement and academic growth
- Ability to prepare students for success on M-STEP, PSAT 8/9, and SAT ELA assessments
Preferred:
- Successful high school English teaching experience or student teaching experience in secondary English, including general education and/or Advanced Placement courses
- Master’s degree in English or equivalent graduate coursework that qualifies the teacher to provide direct college credit opportunities through local community colleges
