Job Summary
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented professionals to join our team as our busy season is fast approaching! We are in need of a Butcher, a Sausage Maker and Counter Person. These dynamic roles combine the art of crafting high-quality meats with providing exceptional customer service at our retail counter. Full-time is available for all 3 positions, but we are willing to work with the right part-time candidiates.
If you are unfamiliar with us, we are a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. We have been nationally featured on TV programs such as Bizarre Foods and were named in the Top 100 Meat Markets in the US by Food and Wine Magazine. Summer is very high-volume, thus the need for applicants who know to multi-task and excel under pressure.
Duties
- Prepare and produce a variety of sausages, ensuring they meet quality standards and food safety regulations
- Handle all aspects of food preparation, including grinding, mixing, stuffing, and seasoning meats with precision and care
- Package finished products efficiently for retail display or wholesale distribution
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, adhering to strict food safety protocols
- Assist customers at the counter by providing friendly service, product recommendations, and answering inquiries about our offerings
- Manage inventory levels of ingredients and packaging supplies to ensure smooth daily operations
- Support team members in other kitchen tasks as needed to ensure timely production and customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food production or food handling within a commercial kitchen or meat processing environment is highly preferred for Counter Help, but required for Butcher and Sausage Maker
- Strong knife skills and meat cutting experience required for Butcher and Sausage Maker positions, preferred for Counter but not required
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices in a food industry setting
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Kitchen experience or culinary background that demonstrates attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Familiarity with packaging techniques and food presentation best practices
