Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Materials Management, this position provides courier services to all hospital departments and staff in multiple buildings. In addition, the incumbent supports purchasing, shipping, receiving, storing, and issuance of items purchased. The position requires flexibility in priorities, the ability to work with many different departments and individuals, and a willing ness to help out in different situations as needed.
This position is Monday-Friday, with on-call hours on alternating weeks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
COURIER
- Performs mail services for all departments to include local postal pick-up and delivery.
- Delivers inter-organizational communications thru out the hospital and offsite locations.
- Makes courier runs to banks, grocery stores, and other business locations.
- Completes pick-up and delivery of supplies from various vendors to the hospital and its various locations.
- Completes blood bank deliveries and pick-ups.
- Ensures maintenance activities are completed on the courier van, including cleaning, recalls, oil changes, etc.
- Serves on the on-call rotation schedule for Courier.
PURCHASING CLERK
- Checks in supplies against purchase orders. Labels supplies.
- Checks for outdates regularly and does daily restocking.
- Fills orders for all Hospital departments to include Rural Health Clinic for in-stock items.
- Assists in monitoring supply levels and stocking supplies for central, purchasing, and Central IV.
- Monitor’s ways to eliminate pilferage.
- Assists maintenance with assembly of furniture or equipment as needed.
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Prior courier or purchasing experience; experience in a clinical setting preferable
Skills: Driving an automobile, must be able to pass background check on driving record
Knowledge: Local area for courier duties, purchasing and receiving.
Abilities: General computer use, standard office equipment, small tools, Microsoft Office suite knowledge.
OSHA Categories: Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue
Physical Requirements
Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
