Role Description
The Academic Advisor is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY. The Academic Advisor will provide guidance to students on academic planning, course selection, and degree requirements, ensuring they are supported in achieving their educational goals. The position also involves assisting students with career planning, facilitating workshops, and collaborating with faculty and staff to address students' academic and developmental needs. Additionally, the Academic Advisor will maintain accurate student records and stay informed about college policies and programs to offer accurate and effective advising services.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Academic Advising and Education to assist students in aligning their academic, transfer and career goals with degree requirements
- Strong Communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in an academic environment
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Prior experience in higher education or student services is a plus
- Familiarity with academic policies and resources to effectively support student needs
