Overview

LABUR is supporting a client in advancing and modernizing their platform architecture to improve scalability, security, and long-term reliability. This engagement focuses on strengthening core platform capabilities by translating enterprise architectural strategy into well-designed, production-ready solutions. The Senior Platform Architect will operate as a highly technical individual contributor, partnering closely with principal architects and engineering leadership to execute on platform vision while addressing complex architectural challenges. The engagement emphasizes hands-on design, implementation, and continuous improvement of shared platform services, while promoting architectural best practices across engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and evolution of the platform strategy, including vision, roadmap, and governance models, in partnership with Principal Architects and engineering leadership.
• Support and help drive the platform technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and architectural standards.
• Design and guide platform architectures that meet enterprise requirements for scalability, reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence.
• Promote platform-first principles and architectural best practices across engineering teams.
• Lead hands-on implementation of platform capabilities, infrastructure management tools, and automation to improve efficiency, reliability, and developer experience.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues to ensure platform stability and availability.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams, product partners, and stakeholders to deliver platform solutions aligned with architectural direction.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, identify opportunities for platform enhancement, and contribute to initiatives that improve performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Research and assess new tools and technologies, providing recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
• Provide security guidance and architectural direction to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to secure coding standards and platform security best practices.
• Review architecture, designs, and code to ensure quality, resilience, and security alignment.
• Stay current with security trends, tools, and emerging threats to ensure the platform maintains a strong and evolving security posture.
  
  

Qualifications

• Deep expertise with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Extensive experience managing and troubleshooting Linux-based systems and modern cloud infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation across DevOps and DataOps workflows.
• Proven ability to lead through influence, communicate complex technical concepts clearly, and mentor engineers.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex, systemic technical issues.
• Solid understanding of security best practices, threat modeling, and security tooling, including technologies such as Chainguard, Speakeasy, and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
• 8-10 years of professional experience in platform engineering, cloud computing, and architecture design, with a strong command of modern platform patterns and technologies.
• 4-5 years in an architect-level role within a cloud or platform engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering large-scale, distributed platforms supporting multiple teams or products.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), DevOps Engineer, Advanced Networking, or equivalent credentials are preferred.

Compensation

$85 - $90 per hour - Dependent on fit and experience.
