Lab IT Support Engineer

LABUR is partnering with a client to identify a Lab IT Support Engineer who will support laboratory computing environments, scientific instrumentation, and Quality Control (QC) systems across manufacturing and R&D sites in the greater Boston area. This role combines hands-on Lab IT support with Computer System Validation (CSV) responsibilities in a GxP-regulated environment. The engineer will provide day-to-day technical support while collaborating with QC laboratories, Quality teams, instrument vendors, and enterprise IT to keep laboratory systems reliable, compliant, and fit for use. This position requires travel between sites, with limited off-hours remote availability as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver day-to-day IT support for laboratory PCs, QC systems, instrument-connected workstations, and scientific applications, including troubleshooting hardware, Windows OS, connectivity, permissions, and basic networking issues.
• Support the installation, configuration, upgrade, backup, and lifecycle management of standalone and client/server laboratory systems and instruments.
• Coordinate with instrument and software vendors during installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and vendor-led IQ/OQ qualification activities.
• Serve as a primary IT contact for laboratory and QC users, partnering with enterprise IT teams and business stakeholders as needed.
• Provide technical support for computerized systems in a GxP-regulated QC environment, fulfilling the IT role within Computer System Validation (CSV) activities.
• Assist with Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) activities, ensuring appropriate technical controls support data integrity and compliance requirements.
• Participate in change control activities and maintain validation, system, and technical documentation within quality management systems such as Veeva.
• Support and troubleshoot laboratory software, including chromatography tools, scientific analysis applications, and vendor integrations used across QC workflows.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience supporting laboratory environments in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or Quality Control settings, including instrument-connected PCs and scientific software.
• Strong IT troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, Windows administration, Active Directory, user access and permissions, and basic networking (DNS, ports, connectivity).
• Practical experience working in a GxP-regulated environment with familiarity in Computer System Validation concepts, lifecycle documentation, and IQ/OQ activities.
• Familiarity with data integrity principles, 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA concepts, and technical controls in regulated systems.
• Experience with quality and document management systems such as Veeva, including change control processes and quality documentation.
• Exposure to laboratory technology vendors such as Agilent, Waters, or Illumina, with the ability to coordinate across technical and business teams.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively with laboratory users across R&D and manufacturing environments. Linux experience is a plus.
