Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. This role will work closely with the Vice President of Finance to maintain accurate financial records, support compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide timely financial reporting to support Labarium’s mission and growth.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for audits and reporting.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Manage the AP process, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and timely payments to vendors.
- Ensure vendor files and W-9 information are complete and up to date.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Support 1099 reporting and year-end compliance requirements.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Oversee customer invoicing, payment application, and collections to ensure timely cash flow.
- Monitor outstanding receivables, investigate payment variances, and collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.
- Prepare AR aging reports and track key metrics related to revenue collection.
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
- Monitor daily cash balances and provide cash flow reports to the Vice President of Finance.
- Assist with treasury functions and banking relationships.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and review financial reports, supporting management in decision-making.
- Assist with audits (internal and external), ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax filings, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, mission-driven approach.
