What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder I position at Laars Heating Systems Company?
The Welder (Arc/Gas or Spot Welder) performs welding operations on a standard or repetitive line of weldments and structures following prescribed procedures and where fit-ups are made by others and/or parts are positioned in fixtures and turning rigs.
Responsibilities:
- Weld and assemble ASME products according to product spec, drawings and prints
- Calibrate precision instruments and control records
- Reject product outside of specifications
- Weld components together
- Visually inspect and monitor production
- Hydro test ASME tanks with A/I inspector
- Perform quality inspections of manufactured parts at each workstation for quality products
- Communicate daily with supervisor and production support on issues and needs
- Operate within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Safety Standards
- Enter completed work daily in TCM
- Support and implement process improvements for enhancing production
- Clean and maintain work area
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
- Complete a minimum of 1 work-related training session per year
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (steel toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding jackets or sleeves)
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- At least one year of welding experience
- Welding certification or additional welding coursework preferred, will certify in-house
- Ability to read product prints/spec sheets and read measurements required for production assembly
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Ability to produce a successful ASME weld test
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Basic knowledge of operating equipment and machines
- Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills required, normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent
