Job Description
Our customers and their equipment operate globally and cannot afford downtime. The logistics team ensures timely material movement using advanced digital tools. The Product Support and Logistics Division has an immediate opening for a Packaging Engineer in the Morton, IL facility.
In this role, you will design and develop returnable and expendable packaging for individual parts and bulk shipping to ensure efficient material delivery. Packaging design includes part containment, protection, and transportation optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish packaging and processing specifications for new product introductions and cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop and maintain supplier packaging requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and facilities to improve packaging efficiency.
- Create packaging concepts and container layouts using 3D modeling software (e.g., Pro-E).
- Perform cost analysis and prepare business cases for packaging improvements.
- Procure and validate new packaging during pilot phases.
- Audit supplier compliance with packaging specifications.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience as a Packaging Engineer or Packaging Analyst.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Manufacturing Enterprise Packaging System.
- Cost analysis and business case preparation experience.
- Supplier collaboration for packaging and logistics changes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma principles.
- Experience in manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with Pack Assistant and Teamcenter.
- Automotive or similar industry packaging design experience.
- Creo or SolidWorks modeling experience.
