Quality Control Technician I

This entry-level role provides inspection, testing, and documentation services at one of our three asphalt plants. Days and hours of work vary, including overnight and weekend work, based on weather, project size, and location. Lab Techs work 45 hours per week and pays between $20.00 - $23.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Sample, test, and inspect asphalt mixes and aggregates.
• Communicate quality issues, test findings, and observations to supervisor.
• Operate asphalt testing machinery.
• Perform general cleaning of work areas.
• Adhere to personal protective equipment policy.
• Certifications are not a prerequisite to employment, but must be obtained within six (6) months of hire date. Training, testing, and recertification costs will be paid by LL Pelling. Employment is contingent upon maintaining certifications.

Employment Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a valid driver's license with insurable driving record
• Pass pre-employment drug test
• Wear personal protective equipment

Required Qualifications and Competencies

• Must have regular, dependable attendance to be physically present in the lab each day.
• Must be able to drive to and from job sites and other company locations.
• Intermediate computer skills, including work experience using Microsoft Office suite.
• Able to perform simple math calculations.
• Able to convey information to others in a simple, clear manner.
• Competent in the English language to read, write, speak, and listen.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to safely work alongside moving construction equipment and open lanes of traffic in both day and night conditions.
• Must have sufficient manual dexterity to take asphalt samples from a job site; test and inspect asphalt mixes and aggregates, operate hand and power tools, and operate and maintain lab equipment.
• Stand, sit, squat, kneel, bend, crouch, twist, reach, and climb steps; Lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
