The Project Engineer II is responsible for planning, designing, and managing engineering projects from conception through completion. Coordinates project activities, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, prepares technical documentation, and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations. May oversee contractors and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Independently handles projects of a high profile, complex nature that may involve groups inside and outside of the organization.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to deliver projects on schedule.
- Design and develop mechanical and electrical systems, components, and equipment using CAD software and engineering principles.
- Perform calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure designs meet requirements and specifications.
- Available on-call for phone or in-person support at facility as needed
- Create, review, approve and maintain detailed engineering plans, designs, drawings, cost estimates, financial justification and schedules required for engineering and maintenance projects.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on a day-to-day basis
- Conducts research of new equipment and manufacturing processes to maintain and improve the company's competitive position.
- Optimization of existing equipment to provide desired balance of cost, throughput, and variability.
- Lead product and process improvements to improve cost position and increase product yield
- Assists plant management with EHS requirements.
- Assists in managing major capital budget plans.
- Initiate and coordinate projects (both capital and CI) and schedules with production and maintenance, including all necessary personnel training.
- Interface directly with operators in a manufacturing environment to lead projects. Manage upward in the organization with the same integrity and enthusiasm as that shown on the shop floor.
- Identifies and implements project work to improve the Company products and manufacturing processes
- Generates new/updated Standard Operating Procedures and similar documents. accountable for process improvement and new product activities which ensure worker safety, compliance with environmental regulations and integrate with the Company quality systems.
- Work with in house Automation team to make equipment and process improvements
- Remain current on new technology options for Company products and manufacturing improvements and regularly share information with the Engineering Manager, Operations Manager and others.
- Generate monthly reports to document and communicate engineering project status
- Provide support, advice and counsel to maintenance, production and R&D personnel to maintain equipment and facility operations.

- May oversee contractors and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
- May oversee or provide technical support and/or mentoring to Project Engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Process Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent field of study
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in large scale industrial Manufacturing
- Computer skills to include AutoCAD Suite (Inventor, AutoCAD, Fusion) and Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Basic technical knowledge of metals and/or powder processing preferred but not required
- Ability to work collaboratively and provide leadership to junior engineering staff and provide oversight to contractors.
