Land Administration Manager

Location: Appalachian Basin (OH/WV/PA region)

About Our Client

Our client is a publicly traded oil and gas exploration and production company with a strong and growing presence in the Appalachian Basin. With operations spanning Ohio and Pennsylvania and headquarters in Morgantown, West Virginia, the organization is built on a foundation of operational excellence, responsible resource development, and environmental stewardship.

Their culture is highly collaborative, grounded in safety, and driven by innovation. As they continue to scale, they remain deeply connected to the communities and region they serve—making this an opportunity to join a company where impact, accountability, and growth go hand in hand.

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Land Administration Manager to take on a high-visibility leadership role overseeing the integrity, strategy, and evolution of their land asset data.

This is more than a traditional land admin role—it’s a strategic seat at the table. You’ll own the systems and processes that underpin drilling execution, financial reporting, and long-term asset value. As the company continues its trajectory as a public entity, you’ll play a key role in building scalable workflows, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring data accuracy across the organization.

You will lead a talented team while partnering cross-functionally with Land, Accounting, Engineering, and Operations—translating complex land obligations into actionable business outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Land Administration team, fostering a high-performance, accountable culture
  • Strategically balance workload across internal staff and external partners to support growth while maintaining efficiency
  • Establish and enforce best-in-class QA/QC standards across land data, payments, and reporting to ensure SOX compliance
  • Serve as the final reviewer for land payment schedules and approvals—mitigating risk and ensuring contractual accuracy
  • Act as the Business Owner of the Land System of Record, driving integration across Land, Accounting (ODA), and Engineering systems
  • Standardize processes for unit documents, assignments, and curative work—ensuring assets are “drill-ready” at all times
  • Partner with Operations and Regulatory teams to support permitting and drilling schedules with precision and timeliness
  • Lead statutory unitization efforts, ensuring all filings and notifications meet regulatory requirements
  • Direct land due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures, including lease valuation, defect identification, and post-close integration
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives—automating workflows, reducing cycle times, and enhancing forecasting accuracy

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Business, Law, or related field; CPL or RPL strongly preferred
  • 7 years of progressive Land Administration experience, including 3 years in a leadership role within a public E&P environment
  • Proven success leading A&D due diligence on complex, high-value transactions
  • Deep expertise in land practices, including lease structures, royalties, shut-ins, and Appalachian Basin nuances
  • Advanced experience with enterprise land systems (OnDemand Land preferred) and strong Excel/data analysis capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex title issues and draft legal instruments (curative, extensions, memoranda, etc.)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment with competing priorities and tight drilling/reporting timelines
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with a high level of integrity and discretion

Why This Role?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a strategic leadership role with direct impact on operational execution and financial performance. You’ll have the autonomy to shape processes, influence systems, and build a best-in-class land administration function within a growing public company.
