Test Development Engineer

Position Overview
The Test Development Engineer will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective testing and troubleshooting solutions for electronic systems and equipment across the product lifecycle. This position is responsible for creating advanced test strategies, developing fixtures and automated test systems, and supporting both product development and manufacturing operations.
Working with minimal supervision, the engineer will lead the preparation of test programs, define specifications and procedures for new products, and coordinate the labor, equipment, and schedules required to evaluate both standard and specialized devices. This role also provides technical leadership across cross-functional teams and mentors junior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop test fixtures, hardware, and printed circuit boards to support device testing and calibration.
- Develop test and calibration software using platforms such as .NET, NI LabVIEW/TestStand, and/or C#.
- Utilize custom test systems and industry-standard automated test equipment (ATE) to support device testing and characterization.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to determine appropriate test and calibration requirements during product development.
- Partner with a multi-functional and international team to support device testing, characterization, and qualification for new product introductions.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering and manufacturing teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing comprehensive test strategies and diagnostic systems used to validate product performance and identify complex issues.
- Significant experience designing and building advanced test fixtures, testing equipment, and standardized procedures for repeatable and reliable results.
- Proven ability to lead qualification and validation efforts, including establishing testing standards and improving quality systems.
- Strong technical leadership skills with experience mentoring engineers and solving complex system-level challenges.
- Experience managing testing resources across multiple projects, including scheduling, equipment utilization, and efficiency improvements.
- Technical proficiency in software development principles, including object-oriented programming.
- Solid understanding of printed circuit board (PCB) design principles.
