Project Engineer – Industrial Construction
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA
Client: Blahnik Construction | Industrial General Contractor
We are partnering with the leadership team at Blahnik Construction, a well-established, locally owned industrial general contractor serving Eastern Iowa, in their search for a Project Engineer to support estimating, project management, and field operations.
This role offers hands-on involvement across bidding, procurement, and execution of large-scale industrial construction projects.
This is a direct opportunity to be part of a union construction team managing projects within an 80-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.

What You’ll Do
- Estimating & Preconstruction
- Assist with project estimating and bid take-offs
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents
- Participate in pre-bid walk-throughs with project managers and superintendents
- Support development of bid proposals and scopes of work
- Learn vendor and subcontractor coordination
- Project Operations & Support
- Support project managers with planning and execution
- Procure materials and supplies for projects and warehouse needs
- Coordinate job site logistics, deliveries, and field documentation
- Ensure safety requirements and protocols are in place and followed
- Conduct site visits to monitor safety, quality, and project progress
- Assist with staffing coordination and issue resolution
- Contribute to project closeout, final documentation, and invoice generation

What You Bring:
- Education: An associates or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with Bluebeam, Excel, and Microsoft Project is a plus (training provided).
- Industry Experience: Prior industrial construction experience is beneficial but not required for motivated candidates eager to learn.
