Our client is a growing locally owned trailer shop in the Cedar Rapids area, and they are seeking a dedicated and proactive Parts Counter Assistant to support their expanding team. Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (No Weekends!)
Role Overview: The Parts Counter Assistant will work directly with the Parts Manager and interact with retail customers. This support role is crucial to various departments, assisting the sales team with parts and accessories, and aiding the service department by pulling necessary parts for repairs. You'll also handle incoming parts deliveries, help maintain inventory, and ensure organization in the showroom and warehouse. A busy and rewarding role awaits!
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with customers to identify and provide appropriate replacement parts or accessories for trailers.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and assist in-person customers.
- Maintain a neat and organized store area, including receiving parts and managing backstock.
- Consult on service, warranty, and repair requests; help scope out problems, write estimates, schedule repairs, and write invoices.
- Maintain and update our dealer management system.
- Assist customers with trailer drop-off and pick-up for service, sales, and rentals.
- Perform other tasks related to operating the store and dealership as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and eagerness to learn.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, preferably with experience in trailers or automobiles.
- Ability to multi-task effectively, especially during peak times.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
- Some sales or customer service experience is helpful.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to operate a forklift/telehandler for unloading and loading freight trucks.
- Must be able to lift up to 75-100 lbs.
- Previous experience in the trailer industry is a plus.
- Clean driving record required for local parts pick-up and delivery.
- Exceptional customer service, organization, time management, and communication skills.
