Oral Surgery Dental Assistant / Surgical Assistant
Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Schedule: Full-Time (32–38 hours/week), Monday–Friday
We are partnering with a specialty oral surgery practice to hire a motivated Oral Surgery Dental Assistant / Surgical Assistant. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow or transition into a specialized clinical role in healthcare – especially individuals with experience in medical assisting, patient care, or surgical technology who are ready for a change.
You’ll receive hands-on training, work closely with skilled surgeons, and develop specialized skills you can use throughout your career. Prior oral surgery experience is helpful — but not required.

What You’ll Do
- Assist the oral surgeon during procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafting, and IV sedation
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical setups and instruments
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures (including vital signs)
- Take and process dental X-rays and CBCT scans (training provided if needed)
- Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate charts and surgical documentation
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection-control protocols
Qualifications
- Dental Assistant certification or surgical technologist/medical clinical background
- Willingness to learn oral surgery procedures and dental workflows
- X-ray certification (or willingness to obtain)
- CPR/BLS required; ACLS required (in-house training and support provided)
- Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Professional, calm, and compassionate chairside manner

Schedule
- Monday–Friday — no evenings or weekends
- Typical hours fall between 32–38 hours/week
- Everyone receives a scheduled ½-day off during the week
- Fridays are straight through: 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM
