The Crew Scheduler is responsible for creating accurate staffing schedules, managing attendance, supporting payroll processes, and providing labor-related reporting. This role works closely with Operations, HR, Supervisors, and Union representatives to ensure the mill is staffed safely and efficiently.

Accountabilities
Scheduling & Labor Planning
- Create, maintain, and publish employee schedules based on production needs and collective agreement rules.
- Coordinate vacation, leave, training, and other time-off requests.
- Assign and fill overtime shifts per established procedures.
- Optimize staffing to meet safety, skill, and equipment requirements while minimizing overtime.
- Analyze labor utilization, overtime, attendance, and skill coverage.
- Provide reports and insights to Operations and HR for planning and decision-making.
- Identify trends and recommend actions to improve staffing efficiency.
- Maintain Kronos/UKG records for absences, transfers, and employee updates.
- Prepare and track attendance corrective actions for the hourly workforce.
- Support supervisors by providing documentation for discipline and attendance ‑ related steps.
- Serve as the main point of contact for scheduling issues involving the Union.
- Provide scheduling, attendance, and payroll information for HR investigations.
- Support Kronos/UKG training as needed.
- Communicate schedule changes and labor needs clearly in a 24/7 manufacturing setting.
- Collaborate with Supervisors, Asset Leaders, HR, and the Scheduling Center of Excellence.
- Handle confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.
- Associate’s degree minimum OR a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (scheduling, labor planning, HR support, or operations).
- Experience in a manufacturing or unionized environment preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Kronos/UKG or similar systems is an asset.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, filtering, data analysis) and strong skills in other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Teams).
