Role Summary:
- Title: Senior Accountant
- Reports to: Corporate Accounting Leadership
- Location: Houston, TX (Galleria area)
- Work Arrangement: Fully in-office Potential for 1 day work from home
- Primary Focus: Support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, fixed assets, and analytical review activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post journal entries, including monthly accruals for U.S. and Canadian operations
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including asset tracking, depreciation, additions, and disposals
- Prepare and reconcile corporate credit card activity and related journal entries
- Reconcile intercompany accounts, including domestic and cross-border transactions
- Conduct detailed financial analysis and account reviews to identify trends, variances, and discrepancies
- Evaluate financial results and underlying transactions using sound accounting judgment and analytical thinking
- Proactively communicate accounting issues, risks, and process improvement opportunities to management
- Allocate consolidated vendor invoices to appropriate departments and cost centers
- Support annual external audit activities and provide required documentation
- Assist with month-end close processes and ensure compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP
- Contribute to process improvements and increased efficiency within the accounting function
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- 3 years of progressive accounting experience required
- Public company accounting experience strongly preferred
- Candidates with 2 years of public accounting experience will also be considered
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing large volumes of data
- Experience working within tight deadlines and structured reporting environments
- Strong analytical and forward-thinking mindset with the ability to identify issues and provide solutions
- Naturally curious, proactive, and comfortable asking questions to gain deeper understanding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with multi-currency accounting, consolidations, and intercompany transactions is a plus
- ERP experience preferred; Sage MAS 500 experience is a plus
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ownership mentality
Compensation & Benefits:
- Target Base Compensation: $85k–$100k
- Annual 10% target Bonus Opportunity
