Project: This is projected to be a 3-6-month contract assignment.


Location: 4-5 days a week onsite in Irvine, CA.


KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for an HR Generalist: HR payroll, benefits, LOA admin ADP Workforce Now


We are seeking a well-rounded HR Generalist with strong working knowledge of California employment law and hands-on experience across the full spectrum of HR. This role supports key areas including employee relations, compliance, onboarding, and leave administration, and handle both Payroll processing and Benefits Administration. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of handling sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Supports a positive work environment & culture.
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee relations issues and workplace concerns
  • Document investigative findings, recommend next steps, and partner with HR leadership and legal as needed
  • Support corrective actions, terminations, and performance management in accordance with company policy and California law

Payroll Support

  • Serve as the Payroll Administrator, assisting with biweekly payroll processing and final pay
  • Review timecards, audit payroll changes, and ensure wage/hour compliance
  • Help process off-cycle checks and maintain payroll data accuracy
  • Protect confidentiality of payroll and compensation records

Benefits Administration

  • Support benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in the HRIS and vendor portals
  • Help communicate benefit programs to employees and address general inquiries
  • Ensure accurate tracking of benefits eligibility and coordination of COBRA notices and benefit continuation during leaves

Leave of Absence Management

  • Administer employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and Workers' Comp (working with a TPA)
  • Track leave timelines, ensure proper documentation, and communicate with employees throughout the process
  • Coordinate return-to-work procedures and support interactive process when needed

Compliance & HR Operations

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, particularly in California
  • Maintain accurate records in the HRIS (ADP) and ensure compliant file management
  • Support internal audits and compliance reporting (e.g., EEO-1, ACA, 401(k), Workers' Comp)
  • Maintain company policies, procedures, and required postings
  • Assist with policy updates, handbook revisions, and compliance training initiatives

Talent & Culture Support

  • Assist with recruitment coordination, onboarding, and new hire orientation
  • Support performance review cycles, employee development programs, and engagement efforts
  • Help maintain a positive workplace culture aligned with company values
  • Assist in maintaining compliance documentation and communication of HR policies.

Experience, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of HR experience with hands-on payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Experience administering benefits programs and working with brokers/vendors
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with confidential data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10-15% to local company sites as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or other ADP platforms
  • Multi-state payroll experience
  • Experience in a small-to-mid-sized company environment


Work Environment / Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment, with limited remote work. The role involves standard office equipment use, computer-based work, in-person and virtual meetings, and business communications.


For remote work days, the employee is responsible for maintaining a safe, professional, and ergonomically appropriate home workspace that supports the performance of essential job functions. Remote work days are subject to change based on management direction or business needs. Physical activities may include sitting, standing, walking, bending, and occasional light lifting. Compensation depends on experience but is typically $35-43.26/hr W2
