Clinical Systems Administrator
Position Summary
The Clinical Systems Administrator serves as a key technical liaison between the IT department, Clinical Engineering, and third-party vendors. This role is responsible for the configuration, integration, and ongoing support of network-connected medical devices and clinical systems. The position ensures that biomedical and facility equipment interface securely and effectively with hospital information systems, supporting safe, efficient patient care.
Responsibilities
Administers and supports networked facility and biomedical systems and their integration with clinical IT infrastructure
Collaborates closely with Clinical Engineering and other facilities to manage device connectivity, data flows, and system compatibility
Maintains asset IP assignments/identity group membership for connected medical devices and their associated software
Works with vendors and internal teams to implement, test, and support clinical devices and systems
Supports cybersecurity efforts by applying security patches, managing device segmentation, and monitoring for vulnerabilities across supported networks
Assists in planning and execution of device and system upgrades, replacements, and implementations
Participates in multidisciplinary project teams for clinical technology implementations and hospital expansions
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
Performs other related duties as assigned
Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering Technology, Health Informatics, or related field preferred
Minimum 2 years' experience in a clinical engineering environment, or comparable device equipment coupled with network or system administrator experience required
Hands-on experience supporting or integrating medical devices with IT infrastructure preferred
Comprehensive understanding and skills related to general electromechanical systems and devices and can communicate the use of supported devices
Experience with network equipment preferred
Basic knowledge of routing and switching (CCNA level)
Experience working with Windows/Linux-based medical systems and vendor-supported applications
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work across departments and with multidisciplinary clinical and technical teams
Working Conditions
Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
Typical equipment used in a clinical and office job
Exposure to needles, blood and body fluids, etc.
Exposure to electrical/ mechanical harm, i.e faulty equipment
Exposure to gas, vapor, fall risk, glass, smells, noise, etc
