Schedule: Monday through Friday | 8:15 AM – 4:45 PM

Compensation: $31.00 – $32.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Lab Technician II supports quality operations by assisting with the development, implementation, and verification of testing methods, inspections, validations, and quality control processes used to help ensure product quality and compliance standards. This role performs analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products using laboratory and molecular/biochemical testing techniques, interprets test results, prepares technical summaries, and assists with investigations related to product quality and customer concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively participates in maintaining and improving the Quality/Business System through ownership of job-specific processes and collaboration with related teams and departments.
• Provides support to help ensure received products comply with order specifications and quality requirements.
• Supports Materials Management with the evaluation, selection, monitoring, and assessment of supplier quality performance.
• Performs analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products using IHC, ISH, ELISA, and molecular/biochemical testing techniques.
• Analyzes and interprets test results in accordance with established quality control procedures and standards.
• Inspects in-process and final products.
• Monitors various quality control equipment parameters to ensure proper calibration and operation.
• Maintains laboratory instruments and facilities in good working condition.
• Executes and completes validation protocols for processes and test equipment.
• Notifies management of any and all issues that may affect product quality.
• Cleans lab area and biosafety cabinets.
• Maintain QC retention area and samples.
• Communicates with Production Management in order to schedule activities to meet customer orders and maintain proper inventory levels.
• Assist with the inspection of incoming and in-process inspection of components and finished goods for all company products.
• Performs data analysis and prepares charts, graphs, reports, and other communications to support evaluation of Quality System performance.
• Provides support with the review and analysis of specifications, engineering change documentation, technical manuals, bulletins, and related materials.
• Participates in engineering tryouts and process proving activities while assisting with the development of controls, testing requirements, inspection checkpoints, and quality assurance methods to support product quality, reliability, and usability.
• Provides support with process initiation, audits, and compliance verification activities prior to first product acceptance.
• Assists with field failure analysis and corrective action activities while coordinating with Product Support and Technical Services teams.
• Assists with training programs to help ensure personnel impacting product quality are properly qualified and supports onboarding and training of new quality team members.
• Documents and controls nonconforming products through MRB logs and maintains laboratory supplies to support production demands.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional coursework in quality systems or quantitative methods and prior system/process auditing experience are a plus.
• 3 - 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous GMP/GLP experience.
• Ability to work independently and effectively troubleshoot.
• Ability to adapt to constant changes and work effectively under pressure and time constraints.
• Ability to deal with problems involving product failure, analysis and remedial actions with minimum supervision.
• Effective communication skills. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
• Excellent mathematical skills. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations.
• Knowledge of biochemical processes including: Spectrophotometry, Bacterial Culture, Chromatography, PCR, Probe and In situ hybridization, Antibody and Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Mammalian cell culture, DNA and RNA, Cell Blocks.
• Ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities. Must be tactful and flexible.
• Possesses excellent communication skills with department personnel, management and suppliers.

Physical Requirements & Working Environment:

• May be required to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• This position frequently works in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to work safely and proficiently in a shop environment with a variety of instruments and tools.
• Ability to travel to other locations both within and outside of the local region.
