Technical Sales Representative – Mechanical / Building Systems
St. Paul, MN (On-Site) | Direct Hire | $80,000–$90,000 Base Incentives (OTE 140-150k)
Konik is partnering with a leading provider of building systems and intelligent infrastructure solutions to add a Technical Sales Representative focused on developing new business within commercial and mission-critical environments.
This role is ideal for someone early in their sales career who brings mechanical systems exposure and a strong desire to build relationships, develop business, and grow into a high-earning technical sales professional. The organization offers structured training, strong mentorship, and one of the more aggressive incentive plans in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Drive new business development through proactive outreach to engineering firms, general contractors, and mechanical contractors
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients across commercial and mission-critical sectors
- Identify project opportunities early and position solutions throughout the sales cycle
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop proposals and technical solutions
- Manage a sales pipeline and track activity within CRM tools
- Attend meetings, jobsite walk-throughs, and industry events to build market presence
- Support account management while prioritizing new client acquisition
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in technical sales, construction, or mechanical systems-related roles
- Exposure to HVAC, mechanical systems, or building controls strongly preferred
- Demonstrated interest in sales and business development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities with varying sales cycles
Preferred Experience
- Experience in HVAC, building automation, or controls systems
- Background working with contractors, engineers, or construction teams
- Familiarity with reading construction drawings or specifications
- Experience using CRM tools such as Salesforce
Additional Role Details
- Territory focused on Minnesota and Western Wisconsin
- Primarily local travel with regular client meetings and industry engagement
- Structured training program with mentorship and ride-alongs
- Ramp-up period of approximately 12 months
- Long sales cycles ranging from several months to multiple years
- Strong emphasis on business development and relationship building
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $80,000–$90,000
- Uncapped incentive plan with strong earning potential (OTE $140K–$150K )
