Project Manager – Custom Manufacturing
Direct Hire | $100k–$120k | On-Site – Bloomington, MN
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of customer projects from order receipt through final delivery. This is a highly customer-facing role responsible for managing project expectations, coordinating internal teams, driving customer approvals, and keeping projects moving toward their committed delivery dates.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing long-duration projects with customers, contractors, engineers, and internal manufacturing teams and be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Own projects from order entry through final delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and general contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage a portfolio of projects at various stages of engineering, approval, production, and delivery.
- Maintain accurate project schedules and continuously monitor customer readiness and required release dates.
- Work closely with the Master Scheduler to determine achievable production and delivery dates.
- Coordinate customer submittals, product data, shop drawings, approvals, and revisions.
- Manage change orders from identification through pricing, customer authorization, scheduling, and billing.
- Clearly communicate the cost and schedule impact of project changes to customers.
- Communicate customer-driven changes internally to the Master Scheduler, Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, and other affected teams.
- Coordinate delivery timing with customers and confirm site readiness.
- Facilitate regular project reviews focused on upcoming releases, schedule risks, customer approvals, and capacity requirements.
- Maintain clear and accurate project documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of project management experience.
- Experience in construction, MEP, HVAC, building products, custom manufacturing, or another project-driven environment.
- Comfortable managing long project timelines where customer and construction schedules can shift.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to manage customer expectations while maintaining realistic project commitments.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage dozens of projects at different stages.
- Experience coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and operations teams.
- Strong understanding of project schedules, dependencies, and delivery requirements.
- Comfortable managing change orders and communicating cost and schedule impacts.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience
- PMP or CAPM certification
- Procore or similar construction/project management software
- Experience with construction submittals and approval processes
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings
- HVAC, sheet metal, building products, or manufacturing experience
- Experience working directly with general contractors, architects, engineers, or construction teams
