Responsibility/Tasks
Supports management in developing and maintaining an HSE and Risk Management system that proactively supports the business objectives of KM Americas.
- Maintain and improve HSE systems and programs for Galveston and Houston operations.
- Lead efforts to promote safety awareness through training, toolbox talks, and routine communications.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and support managers in implementing risk-reduction measures.
- Manage incident investigations, track corrective actions, and share lessons learned with site teams.
- Monitor and report HSE performance metrics using company tools (e.g., Synergi).
- Conduct regular site safety walks, inspections, and audits to identify hazards and improvement opportunities.
- Provide onboarding and refresher safety training for employees and contractors.
- Partner with site leadership to continuously improve safety practices and culture.
- Approve and execute actions to reach HSE objectives
- Approve HSE documentation
- Stop work authority (with an emphasis on explaining why unsafe job was stopped
- Solid knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, and industry HSE standards (including SEMS)
- Ability to handle simultaneous activities and work in a hectic environment.
