Overview
The Plumber Foreman leads commercial and industrial plumbing installations, overseeing pipe fabrication, installation, and system performance while ensuring compliance with building codes and project specifications. This hands-on leadership role includes mentoring apprentices, coordinating labor and materials, and maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, bend, fabricate, and install copper, PVC, CPVC, and steel piping
- Perform copper brazing, soldering, threading, and steel pipe assembly
- Install valves, hangers, supports, flanges, and related piping components
- Diagnose issues, repair leaks, and troubleshoot plumbing systems
- Ensure compliance with plumbing and building codes
- Coordinate materials, labor, and equipment to meet project schedules
- Train and mentor apprentices on proper techniques and safety practices
- Collaborate with other departments as needed
- Enforce all safety procedures and quality standards
Required Qualifications
- 4–5 years of commercial and industrial plumbing experience
- Valid journeyman plumber’s license
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, building codes, and backflow devices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings
- Proficiency with plumbing tools, materials, and equipment
- Strong troubleshooting, math, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Backflow certification
Equipment & Technical Experience
- Aerial lifts (boom and scissor), forklifts (up to 8,000 lbs), telehandlers
- ProPress, MegaPress, hand benders, pipe groovers, floor cutters
- Drain clearing, hydrostatic test pumps, backflow test gauges
- Gas cutting torch (preferred)
- Trailer loading and material securing (preferred)
- Chauffeur license / DOT medical card (preferred)
Rigging Knowledge
- Use of rigging hardware (hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, tag lines)
- Load configuration, positioning, and weight calculations
- Rigger 2 training experience
