Building Automation Project Manager - Louisville, KY

Compensation: $100,000–$110,000 base salary plus commission

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Building Automation Project Manager in Louisville, KY to manage building automation, BAS controls, renovation, and retrofit projects from project initiation through final turnover. This is a hands-on project management opportunity for someone who understands that successful BAS and mechanical projects cannot be managed exclusively from behind a desk.

The Building Automation Project Manager will take ownership of projects valued at $1 million or more, managing project financials and billing, subcontractors, project teams, customer relationships, field execution, and closeout. Regular jobsite presence is an important part of this position, balanced with office time for billing, documentation, planning, and project administration.

Candidates with direct building automation or controls experience are encouraged to apply, but this opportunity is also open to experienced mechanical or HVAC Project Managers whose renovation and retrofit project experience translates effectively to building automation work.

What You'll Do

• Manage building automation and controls renovation/retrofit projects from startup through completion and turnover.
• Take ownership of $1M projects, including execution, financial performance, billing, schedule, documentation, and customer communication.
• Maintain a regular presence at active jobsites to monitor progress, understand field conditions, coordinate stakeholders, and resolve project issues.
• Manage and coordinate subcontractors and project teams throughout project execution.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as a primary project-management contact.
• Track project progress against scope, schedule, and financial expectations.
• Coordinate BAS and controls activities with mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify project risks, scope issues, field conflicts, and schedule concerns and drive them toward timely resolution.
• Manage project closeout and ensure an organized handoff at project completion.

What You Bring

• Project management experience in building automation/controls, mechanical, HVAC, or a closely related project environment.
• Experience managing renovation or retrofit projects valued at $1 million or more is required.
• Experience overseeing subcontractors and coordinating project teams.
• Experience with project billing and financial management.
• Strong client-management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, subcontractors, field personnel, and internal stakeholders.
• A field-oriented management style and willingness to maintain a regular presence on active jobsites.
• Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and project ownership skills.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred but not required.

This position is based in Louisville, Kentucky and combines regular jobsite presence with office time required for project planning, billing, documentation, coordination, and client management. Field engagement is a significant expectation of the role; this is not intended to be a primarily office-based Project Manager position.
