Knox County R-I School District is seeking a highly organized, culture-driven leader to serve as Secondary Assistant Principal/Activities Director for grades 6β12. This position works closely with the Principal to provide strong leadership, guidance, and support across all areas of the school. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive school culture and a safe, inclusive learning environment, while ensuring students are held accountable to high behavioral and academic standards. Responsibilities include managing student discipline, monitoring student progress and achievement, and supporting attendance and overall engagement. The Assistant Principal will also assist in the development and implementation of school policies and procedures, support operational and administrative needs, and help facilitate professional development opportunities for staff to strengthen teaching and learning.
In addition, this role oversees all middle and high school athletic and activity programs, including supervising and evaluating coaches and sponsors, coordinating schedules, transportation, and facilities, ensuring compliance with MSHSAA and district guidelines, and managing budgets, equipment, and records. The position emphasizes promoting student participation, sportsmanship, and academic accountability, while serving as a liaison between the school, community, and conference schools. This role also includes evening and weekend supervision of home and away events, which are shared amongst the administration staff.
This is a 10-month position. Candidates must hold valid Missouri administrative certification or be in the process of obtaining certification. Preferred qualifications include experience in educational leadership, coaching, or activity supervision, along with strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills and knowledge of MSHSAA regulations.
