What are the responsibilities and job description for the READY-MIX PLANT - YARD LABORER position at Knife River - South?
Job Summary:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of the plant is completed.
- Responsible for routine and daily housekeeping duties to ensure a clean plant and yard.
- Perform general laboring duties such as raking and shoveling material.
- Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning).
- Communicate timely and effectively with plant supervisor regarding any issues pertaining to the plant, yard or equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Maintain good attendance and safety record and set an example for others to follow.
- Communicate effectively to co-workers, management, suppliers, and others you encounter.
- Must have a valid driver's license and willing to travel to various plant locations as needed.
- Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime). Shifts may vary according to project/schedule demands.
- Must have a "Safety First" attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
- Experience around ready-mix plants, asphalt plants and/or rock crushers and heavy equipment.
- Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems and maintenance preferred.
- Must have good mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to operate small hand tools.

Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
- May Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, mists, adhesives and acids.
- Hand eye coordination.
- Frequent and/or extended periods requiring standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, and/or twisting.
- Ability to work at night under artificial lighting, as needed.
- Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time
