ROLE OVERVIEW:

Knife River is seeking dependable and safety-conscious Articulated Truck Drivers to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for operating articulated off-road dump trucks to support the unloading of trains and transportation of materials throughout the facility. Additional responsibilities include assisting with railroad track maintenance, operating other heavy equipment as needed, and supporting general operations at the asphalt plant. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, a strong commitment to workplace safety, and the flexibility to work varying schedules, including occasional night shifts.

Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM with some nights required. Saturday work as needed. Hours may vary depending on weather and customer demand.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

1. Safely operate articulated off-road dump trucks to transport and unload materials.
2. Assist with train unloading operations to ensure the efficient movement and handling of materials.
3. Perform routine pre-operation inspections of equipment and report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
4. Maintain and clean areas surrounding railroad tracks using skid steers, hand shovels, and other equipment.
5. Perform routine railroad track inspections, including measuring track gauge and greasing curves.
6. Operate front-end loaders and provide relief coverage for loader operators as needed.
7. Assist with general ground personnel duties at the asphalt plant, including material handling, cleanup, and operational support.
8. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily operations.
9. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
10. Follow all company safety policies, operating procedures, and applicable regulations.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

1. Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, off-road haul trucks, construction equipment, or similar machinery preferred.

2. Experience working in construction, mining, quarry, aggregate, ready-mix, or similar industrial environments preferred.

3. Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).

4. Must be able to work outside in all seasons.

5. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (types and extent of knowledge, skills or abilities an incumbent must possess to complete the job responsibilities satisfactorily)

1. Previous experience operating heavy equipment, particularly articulated dump trucks, is preferred.
2. Safety first attitude required
3. Experience operating front-end loaders and skid steers is preferred.
4. Familiarity with aggregate operations, rail yards, asphalt plants, or similar industrial environments is a plus.
5. Ability to safely operate equipment and perform routine inspections.
6. Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to identify equipment maintenance needs.
7. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
8. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
9. Ability to pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug screen

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

1. Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
2. Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
3. Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.
4. Hand eye coordination.
5. Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
6. Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
7. Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting.
8. Working in all weather conditions for extended periods of time
