Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing federal and municipal construction projects. The position is approximately 75% remote and 25% in the field or office, with occasional day trips for pre-bid walkthroughs, progress meetings, and site coordination.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Review scope of work, plans, specifications, and related documents to fully understand project requirements.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals and contracts to ensure compliance with project needs.
- Attend client pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs, document key information.
- Develop project schedules, including milestones and critical path activities; update regularly.
- Perform estimating tasks, including material quantity takeoffs (flooring, roofing, drywall, windows, doors, ceilings, etc.).
- Solicit, review, and negotiate subcontractor proposals.
- Prepare, track, and submit submittals and RFIs.
- Lead weekly project meetings and prepare supporting materials.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely, within-budget completion.
- Write technical narratives for bid submissions.
- Proactively identify and resolve construction-related issues in collaboration with field staff and stakeholders.
- Maintain strong client and team relationships through professional communication and customer service.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of construction experience, preferably in commercial or federal projects.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and related documents.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
- Must pass a background check and be eligible for base access on federal installations.
- Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera P6.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Federal construction experience strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, RSMeans, Adobe PDF, and Procore.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and workload conditions.
