Porterville CA
Under direct supervision of Program Manager, will provide support and supervision to staff and residents of the Porterville Navigation Center. PNC is a housing program designed for 30 adults who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. This program supports individuals as they transition into Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) or Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) programs. The Program Supervisor will support with all aspects of program operations, ensuring residents receive the necessary services and support to achieve housing stability and self-sufficiency. Responsible for assisting in the overall operations of the program including providing ongoing coaching to new and existing staff, case consultations, and working collaboratively with the Program Manager to ensure efficiencies, exceptional level of customer service and compliance with funder contractual obligations and accreditation requirements. Responsible for providing active listening, collaborative problem solving, and safety planning to those experiencing crisis. The program operates 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. This position requires flexibility and shift work as assigned.
How will I contribute
- Responsible for assisting the Program Manager in managing program operations 24/7 including providing support to After Hours and additional service lines.
- Provide direct supervision to staff, and volunteers as appropriate, as well as assigning tasks to team members to meet the program needs.
- Manage staff to ensure training and professional development are regularly implemented and incorporated into tangible and measurable on-the-job efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Provide supervision, support, mediation, performance evaluation, quality assurance and facilitation of in-service training for staff and volunteers. Interview, select and onboard staff.
- Evaluation of data, data entry, Creating reports, and monitoring of administrative files.
- Create and foster teamwork, accountability, commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in service delivery and client outcomes, within the program and across the agency.
- Communicate program staff success and challenges to Program Manager and provide/implement recommendations as needed.
- Monitor relevant grant contracts and ensure required supporting documentation is obtained.
- Attend & participate in coalition, partnership, and community meetings, as needed.
- Identify new opportunities for collaboration (internal and external) and explore options with Program Manager.
- Maintains collaborative relationships with the community, partners, and stakeholders
- Attend agency meetings as required, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Abides by professional confidentiality guidelines by only sharing client information within the organization when it meets the needs of the client.
- Develop and maintain employee schedules taking into account factors such as workload, staffing requirements, and employee availability.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in staffing levels, unexpected absences, or operational demands to ensure adequate coverage.
- Schedule/facilitate breaks to have the least amount of impact on metrics.
- May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will
- be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques and consult with Program Manager as soon as practically possible.
- Perform additional responsibilities as they develop and are assigned.
What I bring
- Associate Degree: Behavioral health/Sciences or related
- Driver License: Class C
- 4 years’ experience working in a related field / setting (community based, social services, behavioral health, school based or residential setting). May substitute directly related educational experience for years of experience.
- Supervisory experience in mental health/substance abuse care systems, and/or Cal-Aim services needed, especially in the non-profit or public health sector. Knowledge of ECM and CS services and operations.
- Excellent verbal, written and computer skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Strong customer-service orientation. Excellent supervisory skills. Ability to foster teamwork, work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. Ability to lead and positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization. Ability to be flexible and versatile in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and
- efficiency. Ability to interpret and manage program budgets. Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Willingness to develop collaborative relationships with other community providers and mental health educators by assisting with support and education.
- Experience in overseeing quality care and monitoring performance indicators for a program is strongly preferred. Knowledge and expertise in public health issues such as capacity building and sustainability (funding streams, payment methods, performance efficiencies, etc.) preferred. Bachelor’s degree Preferred.
