Warehouse Data Entry

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Summary/Objective 

The Data Entry Clerk is responsible for accurately and efficiently entering cargo data into a database for accurate record keeping. The perfect candidate will possess exceptional organizational, time management, and attention to detail in order to perform this job up to Martainer standards. The clerk is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe work place environment. 

Essential Functions

1. Checks accuracy of manifests upon cargo arrival in accordance with Martainer standards 
2. Determines condition of cargo via careful inspection of merchandise and manifests 
3. Ensures that data listed on the manifest is consistent with what is in the container, such as but not limited to, customer name, address, destination, and merchandise 
4. Measures, weighs, and takes pictures of cargo in order to accurately document status of cargo upon arrival and storage 
5. Possesses extraordinary attention to detail in order to receive and accurately document sensitive cargo, such as but not limited to, flammable and explosive materials 
6. Properly documents damaged cargo by following company policies and procedures 
7. Performs inventory checks on cargo and equipment as needed or as directed by management 
8. Sorts and places materials or items on racks as per company organizational standards 
9. Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and work stations neat; sweep, mop, dust, and organize warehouse as needed in order to maintain a clean and safe work environment 
10. Communicates professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers. 
11. Actively participates in safety or educational training as required 
12. Follows all safety standards & guidelines, including but not limited to, wearing of safety glasses, wearing of steel-toed/safety shoes, appropriate safety gloves as needed, and proper attire 
13. Performs any other management requests or directives as requested 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

This position works in a warehouse setting, with minimal outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work vary depending on the company’s needs. 

Travel 

No travel is expected for this position.
