Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Cashier / Customer Service Representative to support our daily operations in the ocean freight and logistics industry. This role involves processing payments, managing client interactions, and ensuring smooth communication between customers and operations. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of basic accounting and customer service practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle incoming customer inquiries related to shipments, invoices, and payments
- Process and record payments (cash, credit, wire transfers) for freight, customs, and other related charges
- Issue official receipts and maintain accurate transaction records
- Support clients with documentation requirements (e.g., Bill of Lading, invoice copies, proof of payment)
- Coordinate with operations and finance teams to resolve customer issues efficiently
- Track outstanding balances and provide payment reminders when needed
- Maintain organized filing of payment records, customer interactions, and shipment documents
- Provide professional, timely, and courteous service in person, over the phone, and via email
- Assist with administrative tasks as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in business or related field is a plus
- 1 year of experience in customer service or cashiering; experience in shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding is preferred
- Basic knowledge of logistics or international trade is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and billing/accounting software
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
