JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Forklift driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a forklift to unload, store, and load cargo. The forklift driver is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe work place environment.
Essential Functions

- Operates the forklift in order to efficiently and safely load, unload, and store cargo in accordance with Martainer standards
- Moves cargo off shelves and onto trucks in accordance with safety rules and guidelines as stated by the law and company policies
- Performs safety check on forklift prior to start of workday, if any discrepancies are found, report to management immediately
- Pulls and prepares pallets for inbound and outbound shipments as per company organizational standards
- Efficiently moves and stores cargo in the appropriate areas as required
- Maintains the facility’s materials and equipment clean and operational by performing routinely safety checks as well as maintaining an organized work area
- Communicates professionally with team members, supervisors, and customers.
- Actively participates in safety or educational training as required
- Follows all safety standards & guidelines, including but not limited to, wearing of safety glasses, wearing of steel-toed/safety shoes, appropriate safety gloves as needed, high visibility vests, and proper attire
- Performs any other management requests or directives as requested

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This position requires that the forklift driver sit for prolonged periods of time while operating the forklift. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as handheld divices, box cutters and tape dispensers.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms
- The employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear
- The employee will frequently be required to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
- Sitting activities are encountered during 75% of the normal work day
- Walking activities are normally not encountered outside of normal work breaks and would not exceed 10% of a work day
- Stooping/Bending/Squatting activities are encountered on a frequent basis
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling activities are encountered occasionally
- Reaching activities are conducted on a frequent and repetitive basis throughout the work day
- An individual may be required to perform twisting activities, dependent on the type of position he need to place himself in while performing his/her job duties
- Specific vision activities encountered by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a full time position. Days and hours of work vary depending on the company’s needs.
