Position Title: Environmental Services (EVS) Manager
Area of Requirement: Greater Bay Area, California
Scope of Position:
Leads the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of hospital-wide environmental cleaning operations. The EVS Manager oversees policy development, resource allocation, and regulatory compliance for all infection-control cleaning activities, including specialty services (e.g., terminal cleaning, isolation room turnover). This position chairs the EVS Quality Assurance Board, manages departmental budgets, and collaborates with clinical leadership on outbreak response and terminal sterilization workflows.
Tasks and Capabilities Required:
· Policy & Procedure: Develop and revise the EVS Procedures Manual, QASP, and outbreak management protocols in alignment with TJC standards and CDC guidelines.
· Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise EVS Supervisors, Shift Leaders, and Technicians; conduct performance appraisals and implement corrective action plans.
· Quality Management: Implement audit tools (e.g., fluorescent marker, ATP monitoring) to track cleaning efficacy; analyze KPI trends to drive performance improvements.
· Supply Chain Coordination: Manage procurement and inventory of cleaning agents, PPE, and specialized equipment; review SDS for new chemicals and enforce safe storage/disposal practices.
· Committee Representation: Serve on Infection Control, Environment of Care, and Safety Committees; present monthly performance dashboards and risk mitigation plans.
Mandatory Experience and Certifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Management, or IEHA Registered Executive Housekeeper (REH) / AHA Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP).
· Minimum three (3) years managing EVS functions in a Joint Commission–accredited hospital, including demonstrated experience with sterile terminal cleaning during outbreaks.
Preferred/Desired Certifications:
· IEHA Certified Executive Housekeeper (CEH)
· ANSI/ASHI Certified Infection Control Specialist (CICS)
· Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass, as required, a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
