Environmental Emergency Response Supervisor

About the job 

Ponder Environmental Services provides on-call emergency response and environmental services throughout Northern and Central California, including spill response, tank cleaning, vacuum truck services, hazmat cleanup, confined space rescue, and more.

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Emergency Response Supervisor to lead field crews, oversee emergency operations, and ensure safe, efficient project execution. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

What you’ll do: 

• Supervise, train, and mentor field personnel.
• Lead emergency response and cleanup operations.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment, field gear, pumps, and other specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs.
• Complete company and customer documentation accurately.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed; report incidents promptly.
• Maintain communication with clients, dispatch, and operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years of related experience and/or training in emergency response, environmental services, or similar field.
• Experience with respiratory protection equipment, chemical hazards, and hazardous waste site clean-up.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid California Driver’s License (Class C required).
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Forklift certification preferred.
