King County Metro’s Safety, Security, and Quality Assurance (SSQA) Division is seeking a skilled people leader to manage the SaFE Ambassador team and the daily operations of the SaFE Reform Ambassador Pilot Program.
As the new SaFE Ambassador Program Administrator, you will focus on leading and developing a front-line, rapidly changing team by providing consistent coaching, performance management, and support to SaFE Ambassadors and Leads. You will help team members understand performance expectations, manage timecards and payroll, and address challenges with clarity and professionalism. Beyond day-to-day personnel management, you'll drive workforce development—identifying growth opportunities, coordinating training, encouraging skills development, and cultivating a culture of learning and continuous improvement. This highly collaborative management position will work closely with the SaFE Reform Initiative Leadership Team in workflow development and budget management responsibilities. Your leadership will be essential in fostering a respectful, accountable, and inclusive team environment that upholds the mission of the SaFE Initiative and King County.
The SaFE Ambassador Program Administrator position is a Term-Limited Temporary (TLT)/ Special Duty Assignment (SDA) that is anticipated to last through December 31, 2026 with the possibility of extension.
About The SaFE Ambassador Pilot Program
As part of Metro's SaFE Reform Initiative, the SaFE Ambassador Pilot Program places Ambassadors in temporary 6-month roles focused on providing in-person customer service at Metro Transit Centers and bus stops. Ambassadors assist riders and Transit Operators with wayfinding, fare questions, and service requests—helping to create a more accessible, welcoming, and responsive transit experience.
The SaFE Ambassador Leads support daily operations, coordinate coverage, and guide the Ambassador training and onboarding efforts. In addition, Metro Transit is deeply committed to supporting each Ambassador’s professional growth. Through mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and hands-on experience, the program is also designed to help prepare Ambassadors for future career opportunities—both within Metro and beyond. Together, this team plays a key role in shaping a more people-centered approach to transit service.
Recruitment details: This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Term-Limited Temporary (TLT)/ Special Duty Assignment (SDA) Project/Program Manager IV classification within the SaFE Ambassador Pilot Program in the SSQA Division. The duration of this position is anticipated to last through December 31, 2026, with the possibility for extension. In addition, an eligibility list may be created to fill future vacancies in this classification and workgroup that may become available within 12 months of the posting date. If created, the list would be utilized at the discretion of the hiring authority.
