The Payroll Assistant will assist with data entry, timesheet auditing, employee file updates, pay adjustments, reconciliation tasks, and payroll-related inquiries. ResponsibilitiesAssist with the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll for all company employees across multiple locations.Enter and update employee payroll information, including new hires, terminations, transfers, pay rate adjustments, and tax changes.Review timecard data for accuracy, ensuring correct coding of hours worked, overtime, meal periods, and paid time off.Verify timesheet submissions, resolve discrepancies, and follow up with supervisors and managers as needed.Respond to employee payroll inquiries with professionalism, accuracy, and a service-oriented approach.Assist with payroll audits, wage verifications, garnishments, deductions, and pay-related documentation.Maintain confidentiality and ensure all payroll-related records are accurate, complete, and properly filed.Support the Payroll Manager with reconciliation tasks, reporting, and periodic compliance reviews.Coordinate with HR, Operations, and Safety teams to ensure accurate employee status changes and updated records.Assist with generating payroll reports, summaries, and internal metrics.Maintain strict adherence to federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour regulations.Provide general administrative support for the Payroll and HR departments as requested. Qualifications/Knowledge/Critical SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting, business administration, or HR is a plus.Prior payroll, accounting, or HR experience preferred; entry-level candidates with strong administrative and numerical skills will be considered.Familiarity with payroll systems or timekeeping platforms (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Kronos, UKG, etc.) is beneficial.Strong data entry capabilities with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.Understanding of wage and hour laws, overtime rules, and common payroll practices preferred.Ability to maintain confidentiality with high-volume employee information.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other office applications.Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.Professional, courteous, and patient when assisting employees and managers.
