Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic executive leadership role responsible for leading all financial functions and shaping the financial strategy of the firm. The CFO will partner with the CEO and executive leadership to drive financial performance, ensure fiscal sustainability, manage risk, and support growth objectives while reinforcing Kimley-Horn's values and practice-builder culture.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement the firm's financial strategy in alignment with business goals and long-term growth plans.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering on strategic planning, resource allocation, and major business decisions.
- Provide financial insights and forecasts to the CEO, Board, and senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making and business expansion.
Reporting & Financial Management
- Oversee the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, capital allocation, and long-range financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (e.g., GAAP).
Risk, Controls & Governance
- Strengthen internal financial controls, risk management frameworks, and fiscal policies to protect organizational assets.
- Lead risk assessment activities and ensure robust procedures for compliance, audit readiness, and financial transparency.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance team, including controllers, financial analysts, and operational finance professionals.
- Promote professional development, accountability, and collaboration across finance functions.
- Contribute to the firm's culture by supporting Kimley-Horn's entrepreneurial practice-builder model and employee ownership ethos.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate with practice leaders, operations, HR, IT, and business units to align financial planning with organizational priorities.
- Support financial analysis for new practice opportunities, investments, acquisitions, and major initiatives.
QualificationsEducation & Professional Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 10 years of progressive senior financial leadership experience in a complex organization (professional services, engineering, architecture, or consulting a plus).
- Proven track record of strategic financial planning, financial reporting, and team leadership.
Core Skills
- Advanced financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial systems expertise.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial compliance (GAAP).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Pay: $100, $152,944.13 per year
