Summary/Objective
The Product Documentation & Knowledge Systems Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and scaling technical documentation and knowledge systems across Kiefer Sage product lines, including Tenhold, Martcart, and Spraymaster. This role bridges engineering, production, and documentation by translating complex technical processes into clear, accessible materials while building the systems and workflows that ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
This is a build-focused role requiring strong initiative, organization, and the ability to create structured documentation systems in an evolving environment.
Essential Functions:

- Technical Documentation:
- Author and maintain installation guides, assembly instructions, and service documentation across all product lines
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production staff to capture accurate procedural knowledge
- Create illustrations, exploded views, and diagrams using tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or similar
- Ensure documentation reflects current product configurations and is updated as changes occur
- Maintain version control and document history using systems such as SolidWorks Vault or similar
- Knowledge Systems & Process Design:
- Design and implement structured documentation workflows from engineering inputs to published outputs
- Develop reusable, modular templates to standardize documentation across product lines
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate or streamline documentation processes
- Build and maintain a centralized knowledge management system for production, assembly, and service teams
- Establish documentation standards including formatting, naming conventions, revision cycles, and approval workflows
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, production, quality, and product management teams
- Conduct audits to identify documentation gaps, outdated materials, and inconsistencies
- Train employees on how to access and use documentation systems effectively
- Support new product introductions by developing documentation alongside product development timelines

Work Environment
This job operates mainly in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting, bending, stooping, and standing is necessary. Mental alertness and long periods of concentration.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Travel, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience:
- 3 to 6 years of experience in technical writing, documentation engineering, or a related field in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience translating complex mechanical or electrical processes into clear written and visual instructions
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or CAD references
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation across multiple product lines
- Experience working in a self-directed environment with evolving processes
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, or similar tools
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience with SolidWorks Composer or similar 3D documentation tools
- Familiarity with document management systems such as SolidWorks Vault or SharePoint
- Experience with structured authoring tools or documentation automation systems
- Background in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or electro-mechanical assembly environments
- Experience working in a multi-product or multi-brand organization
