Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in Farmington, Hills, MI. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain UI and API automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript
- Expand and enhance automation frameworks by creating reusable fixtures, API clients, utilities, and coding standards
- Build automated coverage for modern web applications and REST APIs
- Integrate and execute automated tests through CI/CD pipelines
- Investigate failures using test traces, application logs, network activity, API responses, and SQL validation
- Validate application processing and backend data using SQL
- Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and risk-based manual testing
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, edge cases, risks, and testability concerns
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other quality team members throughout the development lifecycle
- Participate in code reviews and improve the reliability and maintainability of the automation suite
- Identify flaky, redundant, slow, or low-value tests and address root causes
- Generating and refining Playwright TypeScript tests for UI and API scenarios
- Identifying missing scenarios, edge cases, negative paths, and requirement gaps
- Accelerating test-data creation, SQL queries, API requests, and reusable automation components
- Analyzing failures, logs, stack traces, and test execution results
- Refactoring repetitive, flaky, or difficult-to-maintain automation code
- Creating technical documentation, test summaries, and defect details
- Understanding unfamiliar application code and identifying areas of testing risk
- Sharing effective AI-assisted testing practices with other team members
- Hands-on experience using Playwright with TypeScript for UI and API automation
- Strong TypeScript programming fundamentals
- Experience designing maintainable automation frameworks-not simply creating test scripts
- Experience testing modern web applications
- Experience testing REST APIs
- Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, response validation, and negative API testing
- SQL experience for backend data validation
- Experience executing automated tests through Jenkins or another CI/CD platform
- Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows
- Ability to diagnose failures across UI, API, database, test code, test data, and environment layers
- Experience with exploratory and manual testing in addition to automation
- Ability to work independently and communicate defects and quality risks clearly
