Kforce has a client in Woodbridge, VA that is seeking a Payroll Specialist. Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly, semi-monthly, or weekly payroll for a multi-state employee population
- Review and audit payroll data to ensure accuracy, including hours worked, pay rates, and deductions
- Manage off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, and corrections as needed
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes
- Partner with HR to validate payroll-related changes such as benefits, taxes, and deductions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and assist with month-end close
- Reconcile benefit deductions, garnishments, and payroll-related accounts
- Generate payroll reports and support internal and external audits
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide guidance on timekeeping and pay
- 2 to 5 years of payroll processing experience
- Experience with high-volume payroll and multi-state environments
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or similar platforms
- Proficient in Excel, including basic formulas and data analysis
- Understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
