Responsibilities

Kforce's client, a leading produce wholesaler based in the Bronx, NY, is seeking a Director of Human Resources. Summary: This company serves a diverse client base across the region. With over 400 employees and continued growth, they operate in a fast-paced, logistics-driven environment. As they expand, they are formalizing their HR function to strengthen compliance, scalability, and employee engagement. This experienced, hands-on Director of Human Resources will build and lead their HR function. This is a new role created to provide strategic direction, ensure compliance, and support our company's next stage of growth. Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Design and implement scalable HR systems, policies, and processes
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning, budgeting, and organizational design
  • Lead and mentor a capable HR team to deliver operational excellence and strategic impact
  • Foster a strong, positive, and performance-driven workplace culture
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations, engagement, and talent strategy

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HR leader in compliance, employee relations, and HR operations
  • Strong track record of implementing and managing HRIS platforms (UKG experience preferred)
  • Financial acumen with comfort in budgeting and workforce cost planning
  • Analytical, data-driven mindset paired with high emotional intelligence
  • Background in unionized, distribution, logistics, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
  • Ability to connect with teams across all levels-from warehouse and logistics to sales and administration

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.

Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.

Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
