House of Trades (HOT) Service-Learning AmeriCorps Position Details
*Documents needed to enroll: Government Issued Photo ID, Signed Social Security Card, US Birth Certificate or another form of Proof of Citizenship.
HOT Position Summary:
Participate in service-learning projects with a focus on the Clarion County Community Center on 2nd Avenue. Located in Clarion, PA. Service Learning projects will engage members and the volunteers generated in projects focusing on community revitalization in Clarion County. Service projects will allow members to provide services while gaining skills in a variety of trades, which include carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical. Before engaging in direct service, members will receive safety training to provide these services in a safe environment.
Activities will focus on revitalizing a blighted building on 2 to:
Provide a high-tech community space for educational purposes to agencies and community members,
Address a vacant blighted anchor building in: downtown Clarion
Contribute to the over rehabilitation of the 2nd Avenue area of the Clarion Area.
Assist with Keystone SMILES Community Projects
(12 Weeks) Beginning October 2025
Service Schedule: Tuesday-Friday (Mondays are FLEX if needed)
Estimated Schedule 8:30-4:15 pm /Clarion County Projects
Gross Monthly Living Allowance: $1,575.00
Total Living Allowance (4 month term): $6,300.00
* This is not employment. Your living allowance will not affect any current benefits being received (ex. SNAP)
Education Award: $1,956.50
* The education award is a voucher for education/training/any post-secondary schooling accepted by Title IV funds.
Definition of Living Allowance: money distributed to individuals to meet basic living needs. Living allowance is not considered money earned as during employment. Members are not classified as employees. Therefore members are not subject to employee benefits or eligible for unemployment. A living allowance may not affect other benefits such as social security, retirement, or other assistance benefits.
The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is offered to individuals who complete a term of service and can be used to pay for a range of education/training expenses. Examples include: repaying qualified student loans, future tuition payments, skill training programs and more. You can earn up to 2 Full Time Education awards while serving up to 4 service terms.
